Some customers have asked..

“What was the fate of your little machine?”

1966 US “Mailster”

The short of it is, the machine was recently issued a final DNR by the mechanic, drawn and quartered, and sold for parts. It was an issue with the transmission.

Black Sheep Motorcycle Restoration (Jeff) of Burien was awesome throughout, exhausting many resources before making the final call. I highly recommend his services.

The most respectful interpretation of what transpired is this: the person who lifted our ferry line “Skipper” from the north end—subsequently dumping it broken-down in West Seattle—saved from its eventual breakdown in the near future, potentially with dinner for many on board.

I value the fun I had driving that little “Truckster,” and the valiant purpose of delivering food diversity to Vashon during the pandemic for which it served.

I again express gratitude to islanders who reached out with support when this happened—it really meant a lot.

I am happy to say I’ve taken work with Chef Chris and Earthen Bistro. We hope to deliver a Saturday Earthen offering, or see you in for a Prix Fixe experience, soon.

Thank you for for your taking the time to read,
